Write for eshu.

We commission and consider long-form essays that could only have been written in this country. If you have done the reading and lived the weather, pitch the desk.

What we publish

Pieces that sit in Climate & Skin, Native Botanicals, The Simple Regime, Grooming Craft or Field Notes. We want reported or closely observed work: a FIFO roster, a Kakadu plum supply chain, a GP clinic in Townsville in November. We do not want listicles, AI slurry, or a rewrite of last year's ingredient trend piece.

House rules

  • Australian English. Colour, moisturiser, ageing, practise.
  • Original work. We run similarity checks. Simultaneous submissions are fine if you say so.
  • Cite public sources. Dermatology claims need a named guideline, paper or clinic, not a vibe.
  • No medical advice dressed as diagnosis. Send people to a GP or dermatologist when the skin needs one.
  • Conflicts declared in the pitch, not the last paragraph.

Paid links and sponsored work

If a brand, clinic, PR firm or affiliate is paying — in cash, product or flights — the piece is sponsored. We either decline it or run it with a clear label and rel="sponsored" on every paid outbound link. Example of how a paid partner link must be marked in our HTML: Worldwide Backlinks partner desk. Editorial mentions of public-interest sites stay ordinary links.

How to pitch

Use the form. Give a working title, a hub, 200–400 words on the argument, and a couple of samples. Do not send a finished 3,000-word draft unless we asked. We reply when the pitch is a fit. For a short question, use the contact page.

Do you pay contributors?
Selected independent essays are commissioned. Tell us in the form if you need a fee. We do not accept unpaid advertorial dressed as reported work.
Can I include a link to my site?
One relevant author bio link is fine on commissioned work. Product, affiliate or paid links must be disclosed and will carry rel="sponsored". We strip hidden paid links on sight.
What length do you want?
1,200 to 2,000 words. If the subject needs 800, it is probably a note, not an eshu essay.
